Technological Update, Part II

Yesterday the laptop I spilled water in spent the majority of the day having a fan blow on it on high. A few times during they day, I would check how it was doing by opening Word and hitting every key and taking note of what the result was before shutting it back down and putting it back in front of the fan. With each passing check, more and more of the keys were returning to normal.

With the check I just performed on it before putting it in front of the fan for the day (we had errands to do this morning) only the h and p keys, the 6 and 8 keys on the numpad, and the up and left arrow keys were doubling up. Everything else has returned to normal, so I’m fairly confident that I’m going to get the whole thing back in time for my show tomorrow. If not, I always have the USB keyboard to get me through.

It has, however, started exhibiting a delay in booting up that wasn’t there even during the early stages of this drying out process. It eventually starts up again, but it’s just long enough for me to be concerned that it’s hung in the boot cycle and won’t actually start. I’ll be keeping a close eye on this latest development.

Here’s hoping tomorrow’s update will be the last I’ll need to do.
