June 15, 2015: Three Good Things

Standard

1. As detailed earlier today, my doctor seems to think that I will be okay with only checking my blood glucose after fasting in the morning, and not after meals as I have been for months. It’s not like we have much of a choice in the matter, Medicare is only covering one test a day for those on oral medication nowadays and the strips for my meter are cost prohibitive to purchase without a prescription. I’m just glad she’s not insisting on the additional expense.

2. For only the second time in my life, I had venison today, for lunch, pictured above. An amazing, tender, lean cut of backstrap, dusted with Montreal steak seasoning and grilled, with lightly steamed green beans and bacon bits in a butter sauce. It was a beautiful, low calorie dish that was filling and insanely tasty. In fact, it and breakfast were so low calorie that I wound up scrounging the house looking for empty calories by the end of the day, as I finished lunch with a net caloric intake of 320 for the day at that point.

3. I did 45 minutes of seated yoga today, by far the longest session that I’ve ever had.

Bonus! I changed my checklist significantly today, and managed to get everything done! Great start to a new daily schedule.
